For the first time in his NHL career, Maple Creek product and former Swift Current Bronco Zack Smith will be donning a different jersey and calling a different city home.

After over a decade spent in Ottawa, since the Senators picked him 79th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Smith was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks. The deal saw the Senators acquire forward Artem Anisimov.

The 31-year-old Smith carries a cap hit of $3.25-million for the next two seasons, and posted 28 points over 70 games last season, while serving as an alternate captain.

Smith had 193 points in 612 career regular season games in Ottawa, adding nine points in 45 playoff contests.

The acquisition of the southwest Sask product saves the Blackhawks $1.3-million in cap space.
