The Mosquito 'AA' Indians following their championship victory

The provincial championship streak for the Swift Current Mosquito 'AA' Indians is alive and well.

Yesterday's 13-3 gold medal victory over the Lloydminster Twins secured Swift Current their 5th straight Baseball Sask 'AA' Mosquito Championship.

Assistant Coach with the Indians, Kevin Patenaude says a variety of factors led to the team's success.

They just played a perfect game in the final, but the whole weekend they came ready, wanted to win, it wasn't a fluke. These guys had been practicing hard for a long time and were ready to play.

Throughout their 5 provincial games, the Tribe went undefeated, outscoring their opponents 56 to 14.

Patenaude, says the lopsided scores goes to show how well the team played.

They just hit the ball so well. We started every game strong, we got on the bats and scored runs. Every single game we scored runs in the first inning. We were a very good hitting team, an old team with 10 second year players so that came through in the hitting. These kids just put in a lot of time an effort, practicing twice a week since April." he added.
