The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Ardens soccer team isn't going to let a disappointing finish at provincials damper another great season.

The team went 17-2-1 in league and tournament play en route to a sixth-straight league championship and fifth-straight regional title. Their season ended with a fifth-place finish at provincials in Saskatoon on the weekend.

"It was one of the nicest teams that I've had in terms of their abilities on the field, and the way they acted together off the field," said Coach Dale Perry. "It was just a real nice group of girls to be around."

Perry says they believe they can be competitive again next year despite losing four key graduating players on defence, including their goalkeeper.

"One of the reasons that we didn't give up very many goals all season was due to that defence, so we have a few holes to work on there," he added. "I haven't quite figured out how to do the fixing on that yet, but we'll see what comes into the school and who we can shift around to make it work, but I feel pretty confident that we'll come together and be a contender again next year."

The Ardens will be the host team of the 3A girls provincial soccer tournament in Swift Current next year.
