Shaunavon's Corey Bailey came up just shy of winning a 2nd straight Saskatchewan Junior Men's Golf Championship at Deer Park on Wednesday.

After winning the championship last year, Bailey finished 2nd this year, losing in a playoff hole to Cory Selander of Prince Albert.

According to Bailey, some tougher conditions made for a challenging final round, opposed to the rounds played on Monday and Tuesday.

"It was pretty pressure packed, but everything seemed to be working. I wasn't hitting as many greens, but it was a little bit windier so that was expected. It was just about grinding out good numbers and unfortunately I couldn't get all of the good numbers I wanted." he said.

Despite coming up just short, Bailey says he is still gaining lots of experiences which is helping him grow as a player. He mentioned last year's experience helped him this time around.

"Sitting on the lead all 3 days last year really gave me good experience, which definitely helped this year. I was able to handle the pressure a little bit better this year and get myself in a position to win, which unfortunately I didn't, but ultimately that is where I wanted to be." he added.

Bailey would also like to thank Shaunavon and Swift Current for all the support they have given him.
