The Colts take their second championship phot in as many years.

The future looks bright for female hockey in the southwest.

The Swift Current Bantam Colts won the Provincial A Championship for the second consecutive year.

"We've got an exceptional group of kids in this age group right now." said Coach Steve Veason. "We've got kids that are athletic... competitive... and committed to the team concepts."

The Colts won the total point series with Estevan 4-1 and 4-2.

They won game 1 despite being short staffed due to a bad flu bug going around the team.

The Colts are comprised of the best bantam players in the region.

Some were playing bantam and others had moved up to the Midget AA team.

Veason credits coaching consistency with an easy transition back together.

"We have a lot of coaches that have worked together," Veason said. "We've made an effort to try and employ similar systems among all the teams that eventually have girls going to this team. It really, as far as the systems end of it, is quite seamless."

Veason believes this group of young women in the southwest area are going to lead to strong midget teams down the road.
