Wyatt Sloboshan scored his second goal of the game to lift his Saskatoon Blades to a 5-4 overtime win over the Swift Current Broncos.

Swift Current managed a late comeback on goals by Jon Martin and Kaden Elder to force OT.

It was the first time the Broncos have managed a point when down by a goal after two periods and their first point in their last seven games.

"Good comeback," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith. "It would have been easy to fold the tend in the last few minutes and guys came back to make a push. But it's the same suspects that are playing well and doing it for us. We need more guys than just two or three."

Swift Current got off to a strong start when Jake DeBrusk scored in his first game back after three weeks out with an injury to open the scoring and Cavin Leth added one a few minutes later.

Cameron Hebig's goal late in the first period gave the Blades a lift and they would carry that into the second period. Saskatoon dominated the period with goals from Mason McCarty and Sloboshan to shift the balance of play.

"There was absolutely no response from us in the second period," Smith noted. "Turning the puck over, taking penalties and the ice was tilted. Play sixty minutes tonight and we probably win. Instead we played 30-35 minutes and that's not good enough."

McCarty added another one with six minutes to play in the third period to give Saskatoon what would appear to be the insurance goal.

Martin started the comeback for the Broncos forcing a turnover at his own blue line and burrying his 23rd of the season. Elder ompleted it as he found a loose puck in the goal mouth after a great DeBrusk pass for his first goal as a Bronco to get the game to overtime.

The Broncos are now 0-3 in the 3 on 3 overtime format but do have a win in the shootout.

Landon Bow made 33 saves for the Broncos in a losing cause. Brock Hamm got the win for Saskatoon with 29 saves.

Leth and DeBrusk each had a goal and an assist for Swift Current as the Leth, Calvin Spencer and Tyler Adams line was perhaps Swift Current's most consistent on the night.

"That line was real good," Smith said. "(Leth) has been one of our better players even on the road when we were struggling. I liked the fact that they went to the net. We need some guys to jump on to their game. You need twenty guys and tonight we didn't have that."

It was DeBrusk's first game back from three weeks out injured.

Defenceman Mark Taraschuk made his Broncos debut with a solid outing finishing with an even plus/minus.

Swift Current is back on home tomorrow night when they host the Prince Albert Raiders for the Innovation Credit Union Teddy Bear Toss. You can hear the game on The Eagle 94.1 FM at 6:30pm with puck drop just after 7pm at the Credit Union iPlex.
