Ahead of their regular-season opener, the Swift Current Broncos released a quartet of players earlier this week.

The Broncos released forwards Zach Cox and Dawson Springer, and defenseman Christian Riemer and Austin Herron.

Cox, a 20-year-old, picked up three points in his three preseason games with the club and will become a free agent.

Springer was unable to pick a point during his four preseason games and will now report back to the Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League.

Riemer was also held off the scoresheet in his three preseason games, and will now become a free agent after playing 54 games with the Broncos in which he picked up seven points.

Herron picked up one point during his four games and picked up two points last season with the Broncos in 37 games. He will also become a free agent after his release.

The Broncos current roster now sits at 24 players, which includes 14 forwards, eight defensemen and two goalies.

The 2019-20 regular season for the Broncos begins this Saturday when they host the Calgary Hitmen at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.
