Swift Current Broncos forward Riley Stotts was in Calgary the past five days attempting to crack the U-18 Hockey Canada roster.

Trying to earn one of 22 spots for the team headed to the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, Stotts notched one assist over the five-day camp. However, the native of Winnipeg couldn't find the back of the net in front of newly named Team Canada head scout and former Broncos Head Coach, Brad McEwen.

Unfortunately for Stotts, the effort wasn't enough to make to make the team, who will be travelling to the tournament this week.

The Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup runs from August 7-12 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia.

The red-and-white will take on the Czech Republic in a pre-tournament game this Saturday in Breclav, and officially open the tournament on the 7th - the holiday Monday - against Russia.
