The WHL's lottery process was generous to the Swift Current Broncos ahead of the 2021 CHL Import Draft later this month.

This morning the league announced the results of the lottery for all 22 WHL teams and Swift Current won the second-best selection in the first round of the draft.

They'll have to wait for the CHL to group together the OHL, QMJHL, and WHL results for the Broncos to know exactly what overall pick they will land.

After the first round is complete, the drafting order will be reversed with the Broncos (if they select) being the second last WHL team to pick in the second round.

All CHL teams have until June 28 at 11 a.m. to submit their import player protection list for the 2021-22 season, with each team only being able to roster two import players.

Last year the Broncos selected Oliver Fatul, third overall and in the second round with the 63rd overall pick took Vladislav Demidovich. Neither player was able to join Swift Current this past season due to travel restrictions.

"Whether we keep the two guys we took last year or take two new guys, that will depend on what's available to us," Swift Current Broncos Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Dean Brockman said.

The draft is scheduled for June 30 and will begin at 9 a.m.
