The St. Louis Cardinals are flying high as World Series champions.

Hometown star David Freese tied it with a two-run double in the first inning and Allen Craig hit a go-ahead homer in the third as St. Louis beat the Texas Rangers 6-2 in Game 7.

Freese won World Series MVP honours to go along with his NLCS MVP title. Along with his key hit Friday, the third baseman hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning of Game 6 on Thursday to force the deciding game.

Cards ace Chris Carpenter pitched the win and improved to 2-and-0 in the Series and 4-and-0 in the post-season.
