High School Football will be getting underway soon, with the Swift Current Comprehensive High School Colts having their training camp this week.

The team will hand out equipment this afternoon at 3:45pm, and practices will be held Friday at 3:45pm and Saturday at 1:00pm, and will start their regular practices at 3:45pm on Monday.

"We had 50 guys at spring camp, and I'm hoping that we get most of that back," said Coach Derek Murdoch. "I'm hoping that we get most of that back, and we're always looking for guys to come out of the woodwork that we didn't know about or maybe people that are new to town. We're hoping to be around that 50, and if we get more than that, that would be great."

Murdoch adds with most of their core from last season back this year, they're looking forward to a good season.

"We didn't lose a ton of guys, we lost a couple of really valuable guys, but we've got a lot of bodies back from last year, so we're pretty excited about where things can go," Murdoch said.

The season opener is on September 6th against Weyburn at Colts Field, and the Colts will also host a special "Thursday Night Lights" game against Vanier Collegiate, with a 7:00pm kickoff under the lights on September 18th.
