Heatherington Team Canada2146

Swift Current Broncos defenceman Dillon Heatherington will get another chance to represent Canada at the World Juniors, being selected to Hockey Canada's Summer Development Camp for the second year in a row.

Heatherington says he's honoured to have gotten the call again, and after missing out on the team last year, he says he should have some more confidence this time around.

"I feel like I have an opportunity to make a real strong push for that team, and obviously if you get the opportunity to make that team, Canada hasn't fared too well in the last few years, we're obviously looking for a gold medal so that would be an incredible experience," said Heatherington.

Heatherington adds he hopes to concentrate on getting stronger and more skilled at the camp as he heads into his 19-year-old season with the Broncos, and at Columbus' camp as he tries to crack the roster for the Blue Jackets.

"Just really keying on the little details on my game in the d zone and on the offensive zone, I can contribute a lot more in both of those areas and I'm looking forward to this next year, it should be fun," said Heatherington.

Heatherington is heading into his 19-year-old season with the Broncos and was also drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets last season, but has yet to sign with the team.

The camp goes over the first week of August in Quebec.

Meanwhile, Bronco forward Glenn Gawdin will try to crack Canada's roster for the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Under-18 Tournament, as he was named to the 44-man selection camp roster.

The tournament will take place in the Czech Republic and Slovakia this summer.
