Swift Current Broncos prospect Cameron Hughes has a big summer ahead of him.

After having a strong 16-year-old season with Spruce Grove in the Junior A AJHL, Hughes has to decide whether to stay in Junior A or try to make the move to the WHL.

Interview with Cameron Hughes"I've got a big decision to make," Hughes said. "Obviously will take some time, sit down with the family and kind of take us through what's best. As of right now I haven't made any decisions quite yet. It's a big one and a lot of thought goes into it."

The 2011 Broncos Bantam Draft pick put up 31 points in 60 regular season games with Spruce Grove and had 9 points in 14 playoff games as he helped the Saints to the AJHL final. It was an adjustment moving up to play against older players in Junior A.

"I think the biggest thing is just thinking the game quicker," Hughes said. "You don't have as much time and space as you did in midget."

It was a good experience for the Edmonton native to go on a long playoff run with the Saints.

"I had never experienced playoffs even through bantam and midget I battled some injuries during my one run," Hughes said. "It was a lot of fun the pressure and the intensity obviously grow a lot. We obviously came up a little short but it was still huge for me and I enjoyed it."

The Broncos nabbed Hughes in the 9th round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft after a injury shortened season that saw him put up 42 points in 29 games. He then had an impressive 31 points in 32 games as a 15-year-old in Major Midget AAA before joining the Saints as a 16-year-old.

He has twice attended Broncos training camp but has yet to sign a contract with the team.
