Indians vs MJ copy copy

The Swift Current Indians picked up a 2nd straight victory last night over the Moose Jaw Miller Express at Ross Wells Park.

Playing the Miller Express for the 2nd time in as many nights, the Indians were once again able to down Moose Jaw, this time by a score of 7-3.

Jake Garcia got things rolling for Swift Current in the bottom of the 2nd inning, when he hit a 2-out 2-RBI single, putting the Indians out in front 2-0.

Tied 2-2 in the 5th inning, the Tribe once again drove in a 2-out RBI. Nate Ackerman cashed in Tyler Enns from 2nd base with a single, giving the Indians a 1-run lead.

A Drew Brooks solo home run increased Swift Current's lead to 4-2 in the top of the 7th, before the Indians blew the game open in the 8th.

3 singles and 2 walks for the Tribe led to a 3-run inning, which was capped off by a 2-RBI single from off the bat of Jose Rojas, extending Swift Current's lead to 7-2 going into the final frame.

Moose Jaw would tack on a single run in the 9th, but that would be as close as they would get.

Nelson Quark got the win on the mound for Swift Current. Quark went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs, neither of them earned, on 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 2.

The Indians will now head to Edmonton for a 2 game weekend series with the Prospects.

The 2 teams will meet tonight at 7:05pm, before going at it again tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2:05pm.

The Tribe will be back at Mitchell Field on Tuesday, when they host the Lethbridge Bulls.
