The road team has now won both games in an opening-round best-of-five playoff series between the Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires and Tisdale Trojans.

Swift battled to a 6-2 win on the road on Friday, but dropped a late afternoon contest 2-1 on Sunday at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Neither team could put the puck past the opposition's netminder through the first 20 minutes of the game, carrying a 0-0 score and 11-11 shot total to the second period.

The Legionnaires were the first team to break the deadlock on a Ty Muench goal 1:29 into the second period. The team's top two scorers, Hunter Lamb and Jacob Piller, were credited with the assists on the go-ahead goal.

Swift would carry that momentum up to the midway mark of the middle frame, until Tisdale's Colton Schell buried a puck past Cody Levesque at the 10:14 mark to tie the game.

In a period that saw all the game's scoring, Tisdale would score the eventual game-winner three and a half minutes later on a Davis Chorney shot.

Swift had chances in the third period, including a nearly-successful bid with the net empty, but the Trojans' rookie goaltender Tanner Martin shut the door.

The difference in the neck-and-neck playoff contest may have been that second half of the second period.

"Our first period was really good, and our third period was really good... half of our second period was really good," said Legionnaires head coach Darren Evjen. "I thought there was probably 10 minutes where we didn't have everybody getting as deep as you need to. It's a learning lesson for guys - at this level it's deep, it's hard, and you've just got to stay to your game. We didn't do that for 10 minutes and that's probably where we lost the hockey game."

The Legionnaires had a pair of near-goals somehow stay out of the net in the first period on shots from Mason Strutt and Muench, but a bit more traffic in front of the net could have led to a more consistent dose of chances.

"We're getting pucks to the net. We've just got to be direct, get pucks there - we've got to make sure bodies are there for rebounds," Evjen said. "In the first six minute, we had pucks laying there and we didn't jump on them. We've got to realize those are, a lot of times - like our first goal - the way you score in playoffs."

Levesque ended the game with 29 saves on 31 shots, keeping his playoff goals-against-average at an even 2.00.

The Legionnaires look to regain the series lead Tuesday in Tisdale, with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.

Game 3 will be broadcast live on The Eagle 94.1, with pregame starting 15 minutes before game time.
