The Gull Lake Lions started out the 2018 six-man football season with a one-sided win at home at Gerry Elmslie Field on Friday.

The Lions cruised past the Central Butte Bulldogs with a 35-8 victory.

The run-heavy Lions offence gained 331 rushing yards on the day.

Brant Leppa earned a team-high 136 yards on 28 carries, also finding the end zone for a score. Quarterback Carson Krogsgaard also eclipsed the century mark, rumbling for 130 yards on seven attempts, scoring a trio of TDs. Branson Woodward (six carries, 58 yards) and Ian Mittleholtz (three carries, seven yards) rounded out the rushing attack.

Krogsgaard also passed for 113 yards and a touchdown, going 4-for-10 through the air. His main targets were Anthony Lamarre and Braiden Leppa. Lamarre had two catches for 76 yards and a score - Leppa chipped in with a 30-yard catch.

The Lions next head north to Outlook on September 14 to take on the LCBI Bisons. The Bisons are coming off a 50-15 loss at the hands of the Hanley Sabres in Week 1.
