Opening weekend for the Midget AAA 57s and new head coach Dustin Bissonnette resulted in a 1-3 record at home at Mitchell Field.

Swift Current logged two double-headers at Mitchell Field, the first of which was Saturday against the Regina Wolfpack.

The Midget AAA 57s lost 13-2 in Game 1. Brody Alexandre went 1-for-2 with the lone RBI at the plate for Swift, while Logan Fritzke tossed 3 1/3 innings, giving up a pair of earned runs and racking up 5 strikeouts in the loss.

It was a much closer effort in Game 2 - a 10-9 defeat. Nolan Klein lit it up in the loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI and three runs. Brock Wall was charged with the loss on the mound, going three innings, giving up a trio of runs to go along with four strikeouts.

Sunday saw a split with the visiting Muenster Red Sox in two tight contests.

The Midget AAA 57s fell 15-11 in the first game, with Nathan McInnis and Josh Piermantier registering three-hit games. McInnis added a pair of RBI, as did Logan Fritzke. Klein lasted 3 1/3 innings pitching for Swift, giving up three earned runs, and allowing six walks to go along with a pair of strikeouts.

The late afternoon contest resulted in the first win of the season for the Midget AAA 57s - a 14-12 effort. Brady Bell and Brody Alexandre each had three RBI games, with Fritzke and Mac Gross adding a pair as well. Alexandre was credited as the winning pitcher as well giving up three hits, three earned runs, six walks, while striking out four Red Sox batters.

The Midget AAA 57s are next on the road for two games in Saskatoon on Saturday against the Saskatoon Diamondbacks, before returning to Mitchell Field on Sunday to host the Saskatoon Cubs.
