A three-peat at provincials continues an impressive building tradition for the Swift Current Mosquito AA Indians.

They beat their rivals from Weyburn 11-3 in the final game and didn't expect such a lopsided win against a squad that always played them tough.

"Very comparable," said Indians Coach Brad Bell. "We've battled them all year and they've probably got the better of us throughout the year. We did beat them in the Regina AAA final a couple of weeks ago."
Brad Bell Interview"They're older than we are, we have a younger team, but everything just came together. You could tell the way the guys were swinging the bats at the end of the year that we were very close. It was a super way to end the year."

Bell is encouraged that Swift Current Minor Baseball is in great shape from top to bottom.

"It's really strong right now," Bell said. "We're able to play teams from Saskatoon and Regina and be more than competitive. We really can play with anybody in the province."

He felt like they had the right type of people involved to make them a contender again.

"Basically we're asking for a 12 week commitment and they might get one weekend off," Bell noted. "Right away your'e getting kids and families that are very committed. With that the kids are pretty passionate about the game... (they) love the game and want to get better. It's starting to really show year after year."

Bell gives WMBL Indians Coach Joe Carnahan credit for helping them with camps and coming out during the year to work with their kids.
