Raiders 2012

The Swift Current Kabos Raiders are waiting for their second round playoff schedule after sweeping through their first round best of three series over Melville 8-2 and 4-2.

“Kole Lind scores 8 goals in two games,” said Raiders Coach Kent Woods. “He basically took the team on his shoulders again... everybody was chipping in. Our good guys were better than their good guys for two games.”

As good as Lind was, Woods credited the growth of their team in the second half to everybody in their lineup starting to find a way to contribute and improve their depth.

A strong second half allowed the Raiders to lock up home ice advantage in the first two rounds and Woods saw that as a key to their first round victory.

“In Swift Current we handled their top line pretty easily because we were able to match them up with the Lind line,” Wood said. “Down there we had to really struggle with our line changes so the home ice advantage is going to definitely help us in (the next round).”

Their second round series will be against the Prairie Storm in a battle of the second and third place teams in the south division.
“They have probably the top rated forward in Jered Legien up front,” Woods noted. “They're strong, they're deep... we've had good success against them but it's going to be another tight battle. It's going to come down to line matches and what team shows up to play.”

The Raiders won both games between the two clubs in regular season play.

The best of three series starts Sunday at 3:15pm from Fairview West Arena. Game 2 will send the Raiders on the road the following Friday and game 3 if necessary would come on Sunday, March 10th in Swift Current.
