One of the all-time greats, former Swift Current Bronco Joe Sakic is getting called to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Mats Sundin, Pavel Bure and Adam Oates will be officially inducted with Sakic in November.

The Burnaby native played with the Broncos from 1986 to 1988.

He scored 293 points and was named CHL Player of the Year while playing in Swfit Current.

Sakic went on to play with the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche in the NHL.

When Sakic was inducted into the Broncos Hall of Fale last summer, he talked about the highlights of his legendary career.

"One of the biggest is making the National Hockey League," Sakic said. "Playing that first game. I was in Hartford sitting in that dressing room and realized wow this is a dream come true. Without that nothing else really happens right? You gotta start. Obviously the two Stanley Cups and the Gold Medal in Salt Lake (City) was pretty special."

The Burnaby native scored more than 600 goals in his stellar career.

He is also a member of the BC Hockey Hall of Fame and currently works as an executive with the Avalanche.
