With the Broncos 2013 draft class on the ice again Tuesday, one of their new veterans is also settling in.

Overage forward Connor Sanvido joined the Broncos from Seattle this off season and is in Swift Current for the first time.

He has some advice for the 15-year-olds attending their first camp.

Home Hardware's Overtime on August 19th"It's a lot to take in," Sanvido said. "You've just got to be a sponge when you're young. Embrace everything... not get too high and not get too low. Stay even keel and look up to the older guys."

During Home Hardware's Overtime on The Eagle 94.1 last night, Sanvido talked about his plans for this season.

"I have some personal goals I want to be a top six forward, help the team win and create offence. It's a fresh start and I'm just really looking forward."

Sanvido had 29 points in 72 games for Seattle last year before joining the Broncos in a deal with Andrew Johnson for a 4th round draft pick. He is one of four overage players competing for three spots when training camp opens for Swift Current this week.

Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb expects goaltender Eetu Laurikainen and forward Graham Black to be locked in for two of those spots. Sanvido may be in a battle with returning tough guy Daniel Dale for the third spot.

"Sanvido who is totally different than Dale," Lamb said. "I don't think the league has seen the best of (Sanvido) yet and we know what Danny brings to the table. He's been a great addition to this club and we give him all the respect. He's a physical player and we've got a young team... we need people to help these young guys out when they're on the ice."

"It's going to be a battle and these are the hard decisions we have to make."

Sanvido has been to his share of training camps before and knows what his approach is to having a successful one.

"You've got to keep it simple out there," he added. "Don't try to do too much and don't stray away from your game too much. You've got to play like yourself that's why they brought you in here."

The Broncos hold their fitness testing on Wednesday and Sanvido told us he is prepared for it and has himself in very good shape.

The testing starts at 5pm with main camp opening on the ice this Thursday.
