Proceeds from the 50/50 will go a long way in helping the Swift Current Curling Club in the future.

The Swift Current Curling Club is likely still smiling ear-to-ear after a successful Ford World Women's Curling Championships, which were hosted by the city.

It's estimated that the Club made around $100,000 in 50/50 ticket proceeds over the nine days.

Clayton Wicks is the Vice President of the Curling Club, and he feels the event was a home-run.  "We just couldn't believe the numbers that started to come in.  It just kept building," commented Wicks.  "I think on the final day of the round robin, we grossed over $27,000."

Wicks says they have yet to meet and discuss what they plan to do with their windfall.

He feels the event will have a lasting legacy on the city.  "As far as future events, without a doubt, it's going to open the eyes of the Saskatchewan Curling Association to hold Provincial, or maybe the Canada Cup.  I think it just opens the door to have Swift Current host some of these premiere curling events."
