A very intense and exciting opening day of Swift Current Broncos Training Camp is complete; Day 2 scrimmages begin at 1pm this afternoon.

Veteran Forward Geordie Wudrick was the story in the opening scrimmages.  He collected five points, and scored in the shootout for Team Black.

Wudrick is coming in with a fresh start and renewed energy.  He knows it's a pivotal season ahead.  "I'm happy to have a fresh start, and have a good attitude coming into camp.  All he (new Head Coach/GM Mark Lamb) wants is guys that are going to work hard and have a passion for hockey.  That's two things I'm going to bring to this club.  I'm really happy to have a new start with him, have a great season, and win a WHL championship."

Seventeen-year-old Forward Dane Muench was impressive in the late scrimmage.  He spent last season in the SJHL with the North Battleford North Stars.

Over-age Forward Michael Stickland isn't at camp yet.  He suffered an injury last week, and is home in Red Deer receiving treatment.

Also, there aren't any European imports at camp.  Newly-drafted Finnish G Joni Ortio has elected to play back home this season, while F Jan Dalecky is also home.  He's expected to play in his native Czech Republic after playing the last two seasons with the Broncos.
