Indians' Pitcher Nelson Quark

The Swift Current Indians faint playoff hopes are still alive.

The Tribe picked up a 4-3 extra innings victory over the Yorkton Cardinals last night at Mitchell Field.

Indians' Starting Pitcher Nelson Quark had a strong game for Swift Current.

The Winnipeg native threw 7 innings, surrendering just 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 3, however, he did not factor into the decision.

The Tribe got on the board first in the bottom of the 5th, thanks to a 2-out RBI double from Chad Schultz, which cashed in Casey Bang.

Yorkton responded right back in the top of 6, as a sacrifice fly scored their lone run of the game off of Quark.

However, Swift Current came right back in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead.

After Yorkton was able to retire the first 2 batters of the inning, Taylor Steen was hit by a pitch, then Nate Ackerman and Kevin Czarnecki both walked to lead the bases for Tyler Enns.

Enns then came through with a 2-RBI single, bringing home Steen and Ackerman, to give the Tribe a 3-1 lead.

The score remained 3-1 until the top of 9th.

Indians Pitcher Bobby St. Pierre entered the game in the 9th, looking to lock down the save, however, Yorkton was able to tie the ball game, as 2 hits and 2 Swift Current errors gave Yorkton 2 runs.

Following a scoreless 10th inning, the Tribe walked off the Cardinals in the 11th, as a Justin Esquerra sacrifice fly scored Tyler Enns from 3rd base.

With the win, Swift Current now sits 3.5 games back of the Melville Millionaires for the final wild card spot.

With just 4 games remaining on the Indians' schedule, and 5 games remaining on Melville's, Swift Current will most likely need to win all 4 games to have a chance of moving ahead of the Millionaires in the standings.

The first of the Indians' final 4 games will be played tonight in Regina, when the Tribe battle the Red Sox.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
