Saskatchewan experienced it's first major snowfall of the season this past weekend, with as much as 27 centimeters of the white stuff made it's way through the province over the past few days.

Senior Climatologist for Environment Canada David Phillips says cooler air is making it's way through the province, and along with precipitation from the west coast were the two biggest factors in the recent dump of snow.

Phillips adds the snow that is presently on the ground will not be around in a week because of forecasted sunshine.

As for the winter season as a whole, Phillips says temperatures will be colder than normal but precipitation is believed to be around normal to below normal.
