The Cypress Health Region is making sure it is ready for what could be another busy season of dealing with the Norwalk virus.

Medical Health Officer for the Cypress Health Region, Dr Khami Chokani says facilities in the Region are taking steps to prevent any outbreaks this winter.  Enhanced environmental cleaning has been implemented.

Last year, the Norwalk virus was responsible for a number of visitation restrictions.  However, Dr Chokani says they're expecting fewer complications in preventing the disease's spread, especially in the new Cypress Regional Hospital where they have the ability to isolate both individual patients and entire units.

Chokani says that while they haven't seen any sign of Norwalk yet, they're currently turning their attention to influenza in the Region.
