Dead Prairies Productions Set the Stage for Halloween

The spirit of Halloween came early to Swift Current with the screening of Dead Prairies Productions latest film Gorephers earlier this week.

Devon Oman of Dead Prairies Productions says the night was a huge success and explains how his love for the horror film genre began.

"Basically me and my friend's did some short films on Youtube. Just like very low budget stuff, cheesy and just a lot of fun. And we caught on to it and we loved it so much we decided to make a short film called Land of Terror back in the day. We thought we may as well make a full length film and that became Zombigedon."

Oman adds that he credits his parents for his love of the horror film genre.

"I have always loved watching horror movies as a kid. I think my parents actually showed me most of the horror movies when I was a kid. I remember watching Friday the 13th and Halloween and Child's Play when I was about six or seven."

All of the films made by Dead Prairies Productions feature local actors from Swift Current.

In terms of his favourite horror film, Oman says it has to be Child's Play Two.

As for the near future Oman says he plans to take a break from film-making and focus on writing the script for his next film.
