Construction on Highway 21 from Maple Creek to Cypress Hills is receiving upgrades.

The construction, which was started in mid-May, has seen the road getting repaved.

Steve Shaheen with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure said that construction should be completed by early July.

"There's about two million dollars of servicing on Highway 21, that's from just south of Maple Creek to just south of the turnoff to the Cypress Hills," he said. "Motorists should expect some minor delays and disruptions. A contractor will be providing accommodation during construction and that project is scheduled to be completed in the early part of July."

The approximately 30 kilometres of road has been one of many roads receiving improvements around provincial and regional parks, as earlier this month Saskatchewan Landing had their roads repaved.

"There's about 21 million dollars around the province. These would be roads that would be around provincial parks or some types of parks throughout the province," he said. "Motorists should be aware of construction activity that goes on around the province, they can do that by checking in with the Highway Hotline."

Shaheen added that since the construction season is relatively short, crews are getting out there to get as much work as they can while the weather remains good.
