The top ten worst roads in the province have been determined in a recent campaign by CAA Saskatchewan.

Highway 22 between Earl Grey and Southey topped the list with potholes, cracks and missing pavement in a number of areas. Highway 58 near Lafleche and Gravelbourg made the list as well coming in 4th and 6th.

“Those who live in this area, those who traveled in this area, know the condition of that road and its especially bad since this spring soft" said Gravelbourg Mayor Real Forest who hopes the government will do something soon, "It's in very poor condition, the road is very narrow to start with and now it's breaking up and there are gravel patches, pot holes all over, it's even I would say a dangerous road right now.”

Forest is hoping the stretch is repaired within the next two years, “Now I'm aware there is only so much money to go around and there are a number of highways that need attention but this is one of the highways that needs the most attention. What I would ask is that it be done as soon as possible I doubt it will be done this year but hopefully no later than 2013. It's just not a highway that can deal with the amount of traffic we have in this area.”

Forest notes that it does affect the town's economy as well, adding Gravelbourg is a focal point for many surrounding communities and provides many services that can't be found in most small communities.

Almost 3000 votes were cast throughout the campaign.. The list has been forwarded on to the provincial government for consideration.
