The second-annual Medieval Feast event was held last Saturday, hoping to bring some out of the dark ages of malnourishment.

The St. Olaf Lutheran Church put on the event, connecting back to the medieval theme with the time period of Martin Luther.

Around 20 volunteers came out to the event to help put it on, including performances of a jousting battle, live music, and a puppet show.

The event cost $25 to attend with funds raised from the event being donated to the Canadian Food Grains Bank.

Ron Heeg, the MC for the event, said that decorating the banquet hall of the church and turning it into a medieval court for the meal was a long process.

"We started on Thursday to start decorating and moving things, and the ladies have been working Thursday, Friday, Today (Saturday), so there's a lot of work involved."

The jousting battle featured during the night showcased two young knights on broomstick horses hitting each other with pool noodles until their helmets were knocked off.

Being a themed medieval night, many of the attendees of the event were dressed in medieval-themed costumes.

There were around 71 people who signed up for the banquet, bringing estimated donations to around $1,775 before paying for the cost of putting on the dinner.
