Canadians are reminded that, effective today, all adults 19 years of age or older must present government-issued photo identification and proof of citizenship before entering the United States.

Acceptable documents include a provincial driver's license and copy of your birth certificate.

According to Mike Milne, a Spokesperson for US Customs and Border Protection, the new regulations are part of the transition to a full passport requirement in the summer of 2009.

Passports are currently required for all travellers entering the US by air or sea.
