Non-residential building permits in Saskatchewan had the highest growth in the country, according to the latest numbers from Stats Canada.

Construction was up 188% in November 2011 over the same month in 2010.

Residential construction increased by 10.3% year-over-year, and total building permits were up 45.2% over that same period, the second highest percentage increase in the country.

Swift Current appears to be sharing in the increases, with the city reporting that new construction was up over 130 per cent from November 2010 to November 2011.

This past year was the second best year for building permits in the city.
