It was a busy weekend for Shauanvon RCMP and fire crews.

Shaunavon RCMP arrested 27-year-old Tanya Smith and 31 -year-old Joey McConnell, both of Medicine Hat, after an HP Pavilion laptop from Legacy Computers in Shaunavon was stolen last Wednesday, May 23.

Both were charged with theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply. They appeared in Provincial Court in Swift Current on Friday and both plead guilty.

Also on May 23rd, Shaunavon RCMP and the Frontier Fire Department were called to a car fire, two kilometres north of Climax. No injuries were reported. The fire was not of a suspicious nature.

On Saturday, May 26, police were dispatched to a complaint of a natural gas line leak on Highway 18. No injuries were reported and SaskEnergy was advised.

On Sunday, May 27, Shaunavon RCMP and the Shaunavon Fire Department were called to a fire on 5th Avenue East in Shaunavon. Due to the heavy snow, trees broke and dislodged power lines, causing lines to break and starting a fire. Power was also disrupted. No injuries were reported. SaskPower was on the scene and power was restored.
