The Town of Shaunavon is lobbying to lower rural rink facility rates.

Back in March of this year the Town made a resolution at SUMA lobbying Sask Power to recognize that rural rink facilities in Saskatchewan are not for profit and shouldn't be charged commercial rates for the electricity that they use.

Shaunavon Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, says, "We made a few revisions to that resolution and standardized it. To my understanding, this resolution will be taken to SARM as well as SUMA so we standardized the resolution so that the same resolution stands for both urban and rural municipalities."

Fritz adds they're hoping other rural communities will be on board with the resolution.
