This will be a big year for Swift Current, as the city gets set to host some big events including the Western Canada Summer Games in August and Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada in February, but there is one more big event to add to the calendar in 2019!

Gordon McCall, Artistic Director with the Lyric Theatre, announced this morning on Magic 97 that The Great Southwest Shakespeare Festival will be hosted in Swift Current for the first time this summer! The inaugural production will be of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and will be held under a performance tent at Riverside Park starting on July 26. The production will then run for six performances a week over three weeks wrapping up on August 17, with the final week of performances running concurrently with the Summer Games as part of its cultural festival.

Gordon joined Colin on the Magic Morning Show for the big announcement:

More information on the Great Southwest Shakespeare Festival, including ticket sales, will be released over the coming months.
