A look into the upcoming weather for 2022, the Old Farmers Almanac is predicting some slight changes in the upcoming seasons but nothing drastic or extremely noticeable.

For the most part, Saskatchewan will have its usual prairie winter. We can expect to still see some harsh cold temperatures along with snowstorms and blizzards.

"What we see though is more moisture in the air. So, the temperatures are going to be ever so slightly not-so-cold as normal. It's still gonna be cold and (we'll have) spells of very very cold but on average next spring when we look back on the winter we'll see that it was just slightly warmer than normal," says Jack Burnett, Managing Editor of the Old Farmers Almanac.

Due to there being more moisture in the air we should expect to see some more precipitation but less in the form of snow. What this means is that we will see slightly more freezing rain and sleet through the rest of the winter season.

Looking at the upcoming spring and summer, it will mostly be business as usual.

"(In the) summer, again we're kind of in the area of 'slightly', so we expect it to be slightly cooler than normal but nothing to really affect vacations or ranchers or farmers. Slightly rainier than normal next summer but again not that much; not huge amounts of moisture that are just gonna pour down on us," says Burnett.

These temperatures and moisture-filled forecasts may vary from the west and east parts of the province. The 2022 Old Farmers Almanac is available to buy at any local book store or grocery store. In it, you can find a more in-depth description of the upcoming weather predictions but you'll also find gardening tips, recipes, and a variety of provincial entertainment stories.
