The Town of Maple Creek received its turn early Wednesday with a flash rain fall that overwhelmed the storm sewer system. Parts of Pacific Ave had between 8- 12 inches of water stalled on it. The Maple Creek Co-op had its parking lot full of water.

Within an hour the water levels receded and residents were able to move around downtown.

Kevin Rittenger General Manager of Murray GM explains what he saw.

"A little bit earlier in the day we had a pretty good drop and from our location we are just a little bit north of the railway track and it was raining hard enough that you pretty much couldn't see the Co-op from where we sit and we are probably about 500 yards away from there," he said.

Rittenger tells of the extent of the water in the town.

"There was quite a bit of standing water, there's a few low spots where it kind of piled up around the Co-op when you first cross the tracks into Maple Creek and along Pacific Avenue which is where the railway tracks run. We had a bit of a slew out front of the dealership but it looks like water has dissipated and things are back to normal but it was running pretty good here in town." he said

Maple Creek is found 137 km West of Swift Current near the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.
