In a letter obtained by Swift Current Online written by the Chinook School Division and sent out to parents, it appears all students of the Swift Current Comprehensive High School won't be returning on a full-time basis next week.

The letter to parents states that local Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) representatives no longer support the school moving back to full classes.

There are a few reasons the SHA has changed their mind according to the letter including the rise of COVID-19 cases in the southwest, recent positive cases in the school division, the rise in the number of COVID-19 variants cases in the province and their transmission between communities.

The move to full classrooms will be postponed until the school division is given the green light again from health officials that the return is safe. And both sides will continue to meet weekly to monitor the situation.
