Over $75,000 was raised last Friday at the first-ever Hazlet Showcase and brought in nearly double the population of the Village of Hazlet, at over 160 attendees.

The fundraiser supported four staple community organizations; Hazlet Rink, Hazlet Hall, Hazlet Regional Park, and the Hazlet Economic Development Centre.

Sara Mceachern, MC for the Hazlet Showcase, was glad to be a part of something to benefit the community alongside her husband, who performed at the event as a comedian and entertainer.

"The event was a huge success, the donations and turnout of the community and surrounding area was absolutely unbelievable," said Mceachern. "We're looking at probably the best fundraiser we've had."

Mceachern notes that a significant part of the amazing results was due to the several organizations banning together to put on one large event and the unwavering support of the people those groups serve.

The Hazlet Showcase featured a steak supper, a live comedy show from Daniel Mceachern, both live and silent auctions, locally crafted items, and local art on display.

Community members could purchase tickets for the event in advance for $60 per person or $600 for a table of 10.

"Without fundraising like this we wouldn't be able to expand and develop and continue on doing what we're doing in our community," she added.

With such a successful and exciting Showcase, the Village plans to do a similar fundraiser again with Hazlet's non-profit groups who are full of gratitude.
