The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group held their second annual Longest Day of Golf last month.

The event took place in two southwest communities..in Gull Lake and in Shaunavon..and even though it rained throughout the entire day organizers are calling the event a success.

Fourteen golfers took part between the two communities and raised $12,883.00 for the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group, which provides financial assistance for seriously ill people in southwest Saskatchewan.

Brenda Waldron is the secretary of The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group. She says, "Our main goal is mostly we provide accommodation, travel expenses, meals, whatever. We've done some equipment case by case. Every single case is different."

Last year's event raised $9,000 and organizers say they are looking ahead to next year's event.
