After being notified of a cattle trailer headed southbound on Highway 4 outside of Swift Current driving erratically and into oncoming traffic on October 29th, 2016, Swift Current Rural RCMP located the semi and arrested the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The cattle hauler was impounded and towed to Swift Current. The driver, a 37-year-old man from the Swift Current area, was charged with:
1 count, operate a motor vehicle while impaired, Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and;
1 count, operate a motor vehicle while over 80 mgs%, Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The driver was released from custody with a court date of November 21st in Swift Current.
The RCMP thanks the public for calling when they observe erratic driving. In this case, the public’s assistance resolved a dangerous situation peacefully. If you suspect a driver is impaired, please call 911.
