A fire in the city's west-central part on Sunday destroyed a shed and a portion of a fence.

The Swift Current Fire Department sent five members to tackle the blaze on the 300 block of Begg Street West and contained it within an hour.

Dean Diguer, the deputy fire chief for the Swift Current Fire Department, said they received the call around 2:30 p.m. and nobody was injured.

"The guys said that it was going pretty good when they arrived on the scene," he said. "They knocked it down pretty quick and put out hot spots. The shed is a loss and there's damage to the fence."

Two vehicles from the fire department were joined on the scene by the RCMP and City Light & Power.

A nearby power pole owned by the City of Swift Current was also slightly damaged with Light & Power crews working today on repairing it.

The cause of the fire is unknown and still under investigation.
