In the March 8 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of  97 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 97 new cases there is 1 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the Far North East zone, 4 in the North West zone, 10 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 6 in the Saskatoon zone, 12 in the Central East zone, 50 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 2 in the South East zone.

There are 2 new cases with pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 29.806, of which 1,463 are considered active.

There are currently 7 active cases in the South West zone, all 7 cases are located in the South West sub zone 1.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 144 (11.7 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are  151 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 27,944.

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The death was reported in the 60-69 age group from the Saskatoon zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 399.

There are 140 people in the hospital. One hundred and seventeen of those people are receiving inpatient care - 3 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 11 in the North West zone, 8 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 47 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 40 in the Regina zone, and 3 in the South East zone.

There are 23 people in intensive care - 1 in the North Central zone, 12 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, and 8 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 595,869 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And  yesterday, there were 1,753 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of March 8, the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory is reporting an additional 3 confirmed cases of the B1.1.7 UK Variant - 2 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the North West zone, including the confirmation of presumptive positive cases reported February 23. This brings the provincial total of confirmed variant of concern cases to 9 - 8 B1.1.7 UK and 1 B1.351SA.

An additional 892 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 92,776.
