The 5th annual Sleep Under the Stars party begins today and runs through the weekend at Grasslands National Park West Block, Val Marie.

This family friendly event kicks off today at 4pm with kids activities and games but as Carrie Clausen, Interpretation Coordinator for the park explains, tomorrow is the main event.

"Saturday is our main event. We have kayaking, facility tours, we will have wagon rides going on, and tons of kids stuff going on. We also have an outdoor concert this year which is new for us and we will have Navajo opening for award winning artist Aaron Lines."

Clausen adds that with the outdoor concert this year they hope to double last year's attendance of 300.

In addition, Clausen adds that the event is a chance to show people the beauty of the park.

"What we want to do at Grasslands is try to bring people out to see how amazing this park is. So we try to focus on getting families out and the crowds out to come see what Grasslands is about and see the beautiful park that we have here and then go tell their friends so people will keep coming back and seeing us."

Reservations can be made by calling the visitors center at 306-298-2257 or online at www.visitcypresshills.ca

Everyone is invited to come for a day or the whole weekend as there will be plenty of space for those wishing to bring their tent or trailer.

Tickets will also be on sale at the gate.
