Frontier Days 2012

Another successful year for the Swift Current Ag & Ex Committee.

Frontier Days this past summer had a record attendance, and lead perfectly into what they have planned for their 75th annual Frontier Days coming up in June.

Event Development Coordinator for the Swift Current Ag & Ex Committee, Lenora Bells was excited to announce this year, we might just get to see a little Frontier Days history.

"What we've done is we've looked back into the past, we've gone through scrapbooks in the 50's and 60's and we saw events that took place then," she said, "we're hoping to incorporate those into this year's Frontier Days, some of the things that happened in the parades and dignitaries that were brought in, we're hoping to bring that into Frontier Days this year."

Bells added Frontier Days couldn't be what it is 75 years later without the help and support of the community.

"A number of clubs and community organizations got together and decided they wanted to do something to develop the community and bring the community together in something positive they could celebrate together, and rodeo and western culture was a big part of that."

This years 75th annual Frontier Days runs from the 27th to the 30th of June.

Bells added some some other highlights for the committee this past year was of course Docstown, which attracted more than 6000 people over the course of the summer, and the always popular Ranchmens Ridin' and Recitin' brought out people from all over the southwest.

They also introduced a few new events including "Discover the Farm" which was directed towards school age kids, and ran in conjunction with a poultry and exotic animal sale.  They will be running these new additions again this coming April.
