There has been a recent increase in bicycle thefts reported to the City RCMP in Swift Current.

As expected, the summer months are the peak times for bicycle thefts. The City RCMP would like to remind owners to either store their bicycles in a shed or garage if they have access to one or secure the bikes with good bike locks such as “U-Bars” or heavy-duty bike chains.

Lock the frames and if the bicycles have quick-release rims and seats to ensure these are locked too.

Also, RCMP is requesting that if you have your bike stolen, please report it to the Detachment and have the make, model, color, size, and serial number available for identification.

The Serial number is located on the underside of the bike where the pedal cranks are connected as shown in the photograph below. A photograph of the bicycle is also useful for identification.
