A blizzard warning remains in effect for Swift Current, Herbert, Kyle, Lucky Lake, Cabri, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, and the Cypress Hills as a strong storm system continues to affect southern Saskatchewan today.

So far, this system has reported 10 to 15cm of snow, with another 10 to 15cm possible over the next 24 hours.  Strong winds in southwestern areas have created blizzard conditions.  These winds will move across the province, creating blowing snow with reduced visibilities.

The snow is expected to taper off this evening, with winds diminishing tomorrow.

Many highways in the southwest are not recommending travel due to being ice covered, along with icy or slippery sections, snow drifts, drifting snow, and reduced visibility.  Streets in Swift Current are also in poor condition due to the heavy snow.

Make sure to check the latest road conditions before heading out by calling the Highway Hotline at 1-888-335-7623, or click the Road Report link on www.swiftcurrentonline.com.
