"Parent Talk" will start tonight at Swift Current's Bright Beginnings Family Centre, with nine free drop-in sessions for parents scheduled for the next five months.

The program is a new partnership between the Cypress Health Region, Bright Beginnings and other local organizations.

"Each session will be based on a specific topic, and will be facilitated by different individuals from various community organizations," said Jenise Tisdale, Executive Director of Bright Beginnings Family Centre. "We thought by designing it as a one-hour drop-in session with a variety of set topics, that parents can pick and choose the ones that relate to their situation, and it would provide them with an easy and enjoyable way to learn more about different aspects of parenting and child development, and then connect with other parents and build networks of support."

Tisdale adds the "Parent Talk" sessions will be held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month until May, saying there are plans to resume the sessions in the fall.

The first session, dealing with play as a positive parenting strategy, goes tonight from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the rotunda of the Bright Beginnings Centre, located at the former Entrepreneurial Centre on 6th Ave NE. The other "Parent Talk" sessions are listed on the Events Calendar on Swift Current Online.
