The Swift Current Broncos celebrated a 4-3 win last night at Mosaic Place in a rookie exhibition game against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Warriors were on the board early in the first period with a score from Ryan Bowen, but the lead was short-lived as Cole Johnson scored shortly after.

Johnson says he is still proving himself and hopes to push for a spot on the roster.

"It was faster than I'm used to, just doing the small things hopefully right. I gotta get pucks down low and work from there, hopefully it keeps going the way it's going so far. I tried to put it on net, I didn't really even see the goalie I just fired on net and get things happening," said Johnson.

The Warriors retook the lead in the second period, but Johnson said they came back in the game after some advice from head Coach and GM Mark Lamb.

"The coach came in and talked to us and said we had to get her going and get pucks in the net, so we started throwing pucks in the net and things started happening," said Johnson.

Just 31 seconds later after a goal from Moose Jaw's Ryan Bowan, Luca Leone scored to cut the Warriors’ lead then scored again to tie the game up at 3-3 midway through the third.

Tyler Steenberger scored just 34 seconds into overtime to give the Broncos their win.

The Broncos will be in Edmonton for their next Exhibition game on Saturday.
