RCMP have released more information about a car chase and shooting incident that occurred in Swift Current Thursday Morning.

    Early that morning, Swift Current RCMP were in a high-speed pursuit of a pick-up truck, that ended with the driver suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

    Miles Luke James of Herbert, suspected to be the driver involved, was released from Cypress Regional Hospital after undergoing minor surgery, and is now in RCMP custody.

    James was charged with one count each of Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight From Police and two counts of Breach of Probation. He will appear in Swift Current Provincial Court Monday Morning to answer to those charges.

    Meanwhile, the incident remains under investigation by RCMP Major Crimes, the Forensic Identification unit and Swift Current RCMP, with an independent investigator and review officer also on hand.
